Hospital Bag Checklist For Baby

In the run-up to the big day, and especially with having to deal with the dreaded "baby brain", trying to figure out the hospital bag checklist for baby can be a little overwhelming.

As a mum going through pregnancy for the second time I found myself having to make the pregnancy and baby essentials list all over again, so thought I would share it with you! I figured out what was really handy for me the first time, then I researched what others found useful too and asked loads of mums about their must-haves.

If there is anything that you feel we have missed, please let us know and we will add it to the list!

  • Whatever you feel comfortable birthing in – maybe something which opens at the front or is baggy with a huge neckline to enable skin to skin contact as soon as baby is born

  • Nightgown

  • Socks and slippers

  • Lip Balm and something to take the hair out of your face

  • Snacks and drinks

  • Phone for music (and charger)

After Baby is Born

  • Nightwear that you can breastfeed in

  • Nursing bras and breast pads

  • Nipple cream

  • Knickers (disposables if you prefer)

  • Maternity pads

  • Toothbrush and toothpaste

  • Toiletries & hairbrush

  • Earplugs (if you are hypnobirthing or the ward is noisy)

  • Comfortable clothes for the journey home

For Your Baby

  • Nappies and baby wipes/cotton wool

  • Baby clothes – a few bodysuits and sleepsuits and a hat and booties

  • Bibs and muslins

  • Baby blanket

  • Snowsuit or jacket if the weather is cold

  • Car seat on the last day

  • If you had a vaginal delivery, something to make going to the toilet less uncomfortable.
